Services

Six connected service lines spanning the technical accounting and regulatory judgement at one end, and the data, platforms and operating models that have to deliver it at the other.

Service 01

IFRS Accounting Advisory

Technical accounting advice on IFRS 17, IFRS 9 and the standards that govern insurance and investment reporting - from methodology development through to the accounting papers that have to survive an audit committee.

Technical accounting rarely fails on the interpretation. It fails on the gap between an agreed accounting policy and the data, systems and controls needed to actually produce the number. Work here spans both: developing the methodology and then proving it can be operated, evidenced and audited.

Capabilities

  • IFRS 17 methodology development and implementation
  • IFRS 9 classification, measurement and restatement modelling
  • Technical accounting papers for audit committees and governance forums
  • Accounting policy development and group policy alignment
  • IFRS conversion and transition programmes
  • Technical review of statutory and annual financial statements
  • Accounting for complex transactions - portfolio transfers, fund mergers, reinsurance

Service 02

Regulatory Reporting Advisory

Interpreting regulatory requirements and turning them into reporting that can be produced repeatably - Solvency II balance sheet and templates, matching adjustment eligibility, and the asset data that underpins both.

Regulatory reporting problems are usually data problems wearing a regulatory costume. The requirement is interpreted correctly; what is missing is the asset-level data, lineage and control needed to evidence it to a regulator or an auditor. Engagements typically start at the requirement and work back to the source data.

Capabilities

  • Solvency II balance sheet and quantitative reporting templates
  • Matching adjustment eligibility testing and supporting asset data
  • Regulatory change interpretation and impact assessment
  • Asset look-through for fund and collective investment holdings
  • Regulatory returns review and quality assurance
  • Engagement with regulators, auditors and industry forums

Service 03

Investment Valuation and Governance

Fair valuation policy and oversight for illiquid and hard-to-value assets - private credit, direct lending and unlisted holdings - together with the committee structures that make the valuation defensible.

As insurance and pension balance sheets move into private credit and other illiquid assets, valuation stops being a pricing feed and becomes a governance problem. The work is defining how a price is arrived at, who challenges it, what evidence supports it, and how the whole chain is documented for auditors and regulators.

Capabilities

  • Fair valuation policy design for illiquid and unlisted assets
  • Independent price verification frameworks and model re-assessment
  • Back-testing and valuation uncertainty assessment
  • Fair value hierarchy classification - Level 2 and Level 3
  • Valuation aligned to IPEV guidelines and local regulatory standards
  • Valuation committee design, terms of reference and oversight reporting
  • Valuation control frameworks and independent review

Service 04

Investment Operations Solution Architecture

End-to-end target operating model and solution design for investment operations and reporting - post-trade operations, fund accounting, valuation and reporting resolved into one coherent architecture rather than four disconnected ones.

Investment operations tend to accrete: a custodian here, a fund accountant there, a valuation feed bolted on, and reporting reconciling between them. This work takes the whole chain - from asset onboarding through post-trade operations, accounting and valuation to regulatory and management reporting - and designs it as a single target architecture, then acts as design authority through delivery.

Capabilities

  • Investment operations target operating model and process architecture
  • Post-trade operations, fund accounting and valuation design
  • Outsourcing due diligence and platform selection
  • Asset data dictionaries, target data points and data lineage
  • Data flows across asset managers, custodians and market data vendors
  • Onboarding, classification and risk modelling for private and illiquid assets
  • Automated control frameworks over asset data
  • Design authority through build, UAT and go-live sign-off

Service 05

Finance Change and Integration

Delivering the change itself - integrating acquired finance operations into a group model, migrating systems, and running the governance that gets a design agreed and signed off.

Design work is only worth what gets implemented. This service line covers delivery: integrating acquired books and operations into a group target model, migrating between systems and service providers, restructuring teams and processes around the new design, and chairing the forums where the decisions actually get made.

Capabilities

  • Post-acquisition integration of finance and investment operations
  • Finance system selection, migration and provider transition
  • Target operating model implementation and team restructuring
  • Management reporting and MI framework design, including KPI definition
  • Governance forum design, impact assessment and solution sign-off
  • UAT direction, cutover planning and go-live assurance

Service 06

Technology and Data Solutions

Building working software, not just specifying it - data platforms, control automation and full product builds, including the practice's own commercial property technology platform.

The practice builds as well as advises. That has included in-house asset data solutions for actuarial modelling and regulatory reporting where external suppliers failed to deliver, automated control frameworks over asset data, and Rentalytix, a UK property management platform for landlords built and operated by the practice as its own product. Building software directly is what keeps the architecture advice honest.

Capabilities

  • Asset data warehouse and investment data platform design and build
  • Control automation over asset and reporting data
  • Data integration across custodians, administrators and market data vendors
  • Full-stack product development - React, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, Supabase
  • Rentalytix - UK property management platform, built and run by the practice
